Why NEET like entrance tests are against equalitarianism
It`s been One year since our sister Anitha`s martyrdom. Lot has happened since then. I started reading lot of Political Articles & History. As I`m in one of the Dravidian state I had to read core ideologies of the Dravidianism to get the grasp of the political leanings of the state. As I went through that and parallelly I was experiencing the acts of the central govt, ideology of which is opposite to the dravidian ideology, I stumbled across the startling difference between the Core of the two ideologies.
1) Dravidanism.
2) Less said better.
My Understanding of Dravidan ideology:
To be honest, I`ve very minimal knowledge about the Dravidian ideology, which covers entire social paradigm from Caste Inequality through Using Capitalism effectively to help the Labourer class to Gender Inequality and etc. Maybe I could know 0.1 % of its content. But with that itself I`m in love with the ideology (Only with the ideology, not with the Party).
Creating Equalitarian Society:
One of the Core part of Dravidanism is to uplift the lower class people and creating Equalitarian Society. As the state is based on Dravidian ideology, common people like myself are also for the ideology, that`s why there were huge protest opposing NEET, which is totally against the equalitarianism. One would argue How the Common (Equal) Entrance could contribute to elitism. As B.P.Mandal said, "There is equality only among equals. To equate the unequals is to perpetuate inequality"
Empirical Evidence:
To Realize Entrance Tests like NEET are against equalitarianism, we have to look at some of the facts which will showcase gender inequality in entrance based systems. Almost all of us know the majority of the toppers in CBSE/State based students are girls. But if you see the percentage of women in IIT it is less than 10 percent. On the other hand in Anna University (which doesn`t have entrance exam), 50 percent of students are girls. There students are admitted based on the mark they`ve scored in school syllabus, instead of the mark they`ve scored in coaching centre based syllabus. It is very easy to decipher which is for and which is against equalitarianism. It`s not hard to understand the reason for this, as majority of the Coaching centres are located in urban area and milks lot of money from parents. Only elite can afford this. Dravidian govt realized this and removed the state based entrance exams very early.
But the central govt which has the opposite ideology, imposes the exam on State like Tamilnadu, where all the parties are against such exam. If the Nation can`t accept the voices of majority of the people then how that can be called as democratic country, it`s just an another form of colonialism.
I hope Tamilnadu will continuously fight for equality and works for the common people and remain as the model for other states. To actualise that amply, State should have more liberty / autonomy to do what it wants. Lets fight for State Autonomy to make our State & Country a model for others.
